Konstantinos Mavropoulos “Dinos31” kicked off the season on the right foot making history for Greece by conquering Mugello Circuit
An impressive start to the 2026 racing season was made by young champion rider Konstantinos Mavropoulos, known in racing circles as “Dinos31”, by claiming victory at the legendary Mugello Circuit during the opening round of the Italian CIV Yamaha R7 Cup Championship.
The young Greek rider is competing in the 2026 season with Rosso e Nero, alongside his personal mechanic, Christos Fragkos, in the highly competitive and demanding Italian CIV Yamaha R7 Cup Championship.
In Saturday’s first qualifying session, Dinos31 secured 12th place, while in the second qualifying session he climbed to 6th position, earning a start from the second row of the grid among 23 participants, 20 of whom were Italian riders.
During Sunday’s race, the young champion became one of the protagonists from as early as the second lap, leading the group for the majority of the race. In recognition of his outstanding performance, the organizers also awarded him the race’s special “Leader” trophy.
His team expressed great satisfaction with the young athlete’s performance and result, while his mechanic, Christos Fragkos, stated:
“Today’s race was extremely difficult because of the weather conditions, which kept changing between dry and wet even up to ten minutes before the start. Even when we were already on the grid, all riders had to change tires. What matters is that our rider gave his absolute best and we managed to reach the top. Now we focus on the next race at Imola.”
Dinos31 himself was also delighted with the result, saying:
“I’m very happy to have managed to reach the top as the only Greek participant against 20 Italian riders, especially at the legendary Mugello Circuit and right from the opening race of the season. The constant weather changes today made the race even more challenging. Mugello is an extremely demanding and technical circuit, where strategy plays a very important role throughout the race. We keep our heads down and continue working hard to give our very best at the next race at Imola, on June 6-7.”
We wish the young Greek champion Konstantinos Mavropoulos the very best for the remainder of his racing season and continued success in the upcoming rounds.
